Oh hi, I’m Michelle!

and It’s my honor to help you kindle a love of learning in your kids.

I’m a mom to six curious and adventurous kids, from elementary school-age to college graduate, that genuinely love to learn.

But it didn’t start out that way!

With a B.S. in Elementary Education and 17 years experience teaching elementary and middle school students and then homeschooling for many years after that, I have lots of experience educating kids. I was very aware of the important role parents play in the education of their children.

When I began my parenting journey, I thought I needed to have my kids in ALL THE THINGS to set them up for success. It wasn’t until I became so stressed and overwhelmed between work, home and extracurriculars that I took a step back and evaluated what I was doing. I was burnt out. I felt disconnected from my kids. Things needed to change.

Between my six kids, we have experienced schooling through public school, private boarding school, homeschooling and online public schooling. It didn’t matter how my kids were formally educated. I discovered that being intentional about creating shared learning experiences with my children created the bridge between what they learn in school and the real world. When I looked back at my teaching career, I knew that the kids who were most engaged in my classes, were kids who had experience outside the classroom related to what we studied in class.

And that’s exactly what Chasing Wonder Adventures is all about.

While extracurriculars can provide many benefits to your kids, setting aside time to have shared learning experiences sets your kids up for success while building your relationship with your kids, not constantly running from one activity to the next. Regardless of how your children are formally educated, you can kindle a love of learning in your kids too!
